CANBERRA CENTRE MALL SEATING

This project delivers a centre-wide mall seating strategy, purpose-designed to prioritise human interaction, comfort and placemaking. Each piece is carefully crafted with durability, accessibility and biophilic principles in mind, contributing to a more engaging and comfortable customer experience. The seating integrates seamlessly with the spatial rhythm of the mall, encouraging rest, social exchange and incidental connection between people, place and technology.

Canberra Centre comprises a network of interconnected malls and precincts, each with a distinct aesthetic, materiality and atmosphere. The design response had to reconcile two competing objectives: to develop site-specific seating solutions tailored to the unique context of each of the eight locations, while also establishing a unifying design language that subtly ties all interventions together. The result is a layered and adaptable seating suite that supports both diversity and cohesion across the retail environment.
